Clay Buchholz for Cy Young? Call me crazy but....

Sure, I am a diehard Boston sports fan. And some might think I will be a bit bias(see Why Kobe Bryant is Overrated) but for right now, just listen to me and I will make my point across to why Clay Buchholz should win the AL Cy Young. I know Yankee fans will say CC, but for what reason?Because he has 17 wins?Well Clay Buchholz is 15-5 which is a good record, but wins and losses doesn't matter. Clay has a stellar ERA and is what the Cy Young award description says, "The most dominant pitcher in his league."
For this argument, I will go outside the wins and losses, even outside of the ERA that can make a good pitcher into a great pitcher.
Clay Buchholz
  • 15-5 on the year
  • 2.26 ERA
  • 114 hits
  • 7 HR
  • 53 walks
  • 96 K's
  • Whip of 1.20
  • Opponent BA of .224
Also, remember that he was on the 15 day DL for a portion of the year
For agruments sake, I will compare that to CC.
CC Sabathia
  • 17-5
  • 3.02 ERA
  • 168 hits
  • 15 HR
  • 61 walks
  • 151 K's
  • 1.22 WHIP
  • Opponent BA of .243
For right now CC is better in two of the categories, but that could easily be tied if Buchholz didn't get injured, but he also could've hit a rough stretch right there and lost two or three games.
No disrespect to Rays fans with me not including David Price as he is also a top notch pitcher and very likely contender barring any injury.
So, you may think I'm bias, but look at the stats. The information is right there in front of your face.

Hey, look at that, Cleveland hates you

Yes, LeBron we know even your free agency decision just has to be announced on ESPN first.
If you just said you were going to Miami, some Cleveland fans would hate you, but since your going on national TV to say it, all of Cleveland hates you. They gave you so many years of loyalty and you repay them by telling them off on National Television?? Sounds like a loyal person to me.

LeBron James, get your speech ready. The Cleveland Hall of Infamy is calling your name.

Why Kobe Bryant is OVERRATED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I am here to explain why Kobe Bryant is overrated. By the end of this, you just might be convinced. To explain this, I will have to use a era based explanation.
The Shaq Years       With Shaq on the team, The Lakers enjoyed much success. In all, it totaled up to three championships. They dominated the league from 2000-2002 and at this point, Kobe was on the rise with his sidekick helping as well.

The Loner Years       Then one day, Shaq was traded to the Miami Heat in a deal that would pay off later on. But for right now, the Lakers were in trouble. Kobe Bryant could not win a championship by himself(Gasp.)  He tried to do it all on his own, but failed. He was so angry that he demanded a trade unless the Lakers could get another big name player because he can't win by himself(will get to this later.)
Then one day in the 2008 season when the Celtics were already aquainted with their team......
The Lakers were part of the best trade (for them) in Lakers history. Basically, the Lakers got Pau Gasol while the Grizzlies got scrubs. This worked out and the Lakers seemed like a banner was already being put up. But the Celtics were waiting in a dark alley. They shut down Pau Gasol leaving only Kobe to score and he just couldn't do it. But then the next year, Kg gets hurt and the Celtics are knocked out(the Lakers breathed a sigh of relief) and they faced the Magic. With Pau Gasol actually performing, the Lakers won. And this year, again they faced the Celtics and it seemed like the Celtics were going to win, but then Kendrick Perkins gets injured and the Lakers dominate the offensive boards and noone can cover Pau Gasol, so the Lakers win.
So, um, what's your point?           My point is that if LeBron is trashed for not winning a championship and is called overrated, then the same be true for Kobe. Yes, I am saying that Kobe Bryant, yes the Kobe Bryant is OVERRATED(clap, clap, clap, clap, clap)

The Curious Case of the Boston Redsox

I am here to talk about the Boston Redsox and how they are starting to turn it around along with some of those bats. Over the offseason, the Redsox were very close to aquiring Adrian Gonzalez. Once the pieces could not be agreed on, they decided to hold off and most people said that they would begin new discussions at the trade deadline expecting the Padres would struggle. But right there is where the problem is. They are off to a very good start and will not be trading their key players. First, I will discuss what we have know.
If we got another first baseman, one of two situations would have to happen. Youk goes to third and Beltre sits or one or the other plays DH. Adrian Beltre is starting to turn things around as shown with last nights 2 HR and a triple, 6 RBI performance. Also David Ortiz is starting to hit better.
Now on to the possible trade possibilites. I have heard Paul Konerko is on the trade block along with Prince Fielder. The Brewers want to get rid of his big contract along with getting some good young pitchers. The White Sox as it seems are in and/or close to rebuilding mode and are probably wishing to get good, young prospects.

Any thoughts?

PatsC'sSoxOhMy Final Four Predictions

Here we are. After about a million upsets we have reached the Final Four. A year in which it was impossible to pick your bracket. Just think of it this way: A 5 seed will be in the National Championship
Butler vs Michigan State  Michigan State has not found a good competition level so far in this tournament. The only time they faced a team seeded higher than them, they won on a buzzer beater!  They got a break playing Northern Iowa instead of Kansas. Butler,on the other hand, has tooken down two favorites in Syracuse and Kansas State. They didn't win on a buzzer beater either.   Butler: 78 Michigan State: 65

West Virginia vs Duke:    Just like Michigan State, Duke has not faced good competition in Ark PB, Cal, Purdue and now Baylor. This team has a tendency to choke and in my opinion they will again. West Virginia found a way to beat John Wall and Kentucky when they didn't even hit a 2-pointer in the first half! They shut down John Wall and got Demarcus Cousins frustrated. They will use the 3 to defeat Duke   West Virginia: 73  Duke: 67

Final: Butler vs West Virginia   After already upsetting Syracuse and Kansas State, the question is can they do it again. Gordan Hayward will lead Butler to an early 10-point lead, but once again the Mountaineers will use the 3 to climb back in and eventually pull of the victory
WVU: 81   Butler: 77

Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid.....

After the Celtics convincing win over the Denver Nuggets, the Celtics have sent a message to the Western Conference. After beating Western Conference powers Houston and Dallas on the road and then beating arguably the best team in the conference in Denver, they have showed they can beat the best whether its on the road or whether it is not. Now the question is, is this a good sign from a struggling team? It only was three games, but three games can tell whether a team is elite or not. I am not saying the Celtics are going to win the NBA Finals now , but all I am saying is don't count this team out. They've recovered from there injuries and are ready to go back to playing Celtics Basketball.
